A dog with a healthy, shiny and smooth fur coat not only looks better but also feels better and I’m saying this because generally, the condition of the dog's fur and skin is a sign of his health.

Here are some tips that might help you give your dog a healthy coat.

  • Schedule regular veterinary visits where he can be checked and treated for parasites infections like fleas, mites, ticks and worms.This culprits can give your dog an unhealthy looking coat;

  • Exercise not only keeps him in top shape but it also stimulates blood and oxygen flow, bringing more nutrients to the fur and making it look beautiful;
  • Try to brush his coat at least once a week in order to remove dead hair, dirt, curls and also to stimulate the skin and hair follicles, dues resulting in a healthier and shinier look;
  • Regular bathing plays an important part in keeping your dog’s coat healthy and shiny. It is usually recommended once a month but it differs from breed to breed, type of coat and also of the environment in which he lives.For example a hunting dog that loves to dig, jump in water, play in the mud requires a more frequent bathing than a bulldog that loves to stay most of the time in bed sleeping.Make sure to use high quality shampoos that contain vitamin E and aloe and if your dog has sensitive or irritated skin try using oatmeal shampoo.
