Croatia is a unitary democratic parliamentary republic located in southeast Europe. The country extends from the fertile plains of the Danube to the coast of the Adriatic Sea. It is bordered by Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the southeast, Montenegro to the southeast, the Adriatic Sea to the southwest and Slovenia to the northwest. . The major tourist areas are represented by the 1.185 islands.
